How To Vaccinate At Home

First pre-medicate with Benadryl 20 minutes before giving vaccine.  Please see the Home Remedy Section under the Health Information for dosage information.  I like to pre-medicate as a precaution so it reduces the chances of an allergic reaction.

Tighten needle on syringe and insert it into liquid vial.  Withdraw all liquid, unless it is a multi-dose vial.  Then withdraw 1 ml (1 cc).

If a second vial contains powdered portion of vaccine, inject liquid into that vial.  If there is no second vial, skip next step.

Remove needle and syringe and gently shake vial for a few seconds to mix well.  Insert needle back into vial and withdraw entire mixed contents.

Inject any large amount of excess air in the syringe back into the vial.  Remove needle and syringe from vial.  You are now ready to give the vaccine.  

To give subcutaneous vaccine, lift skin into a triangle and inject into the middle of the triangle.
