Here at Blue Chi’s Ranch we do not breed Merles and do not ever plan to, that is our personal preference.  We personally do not think that they should be bred, even though I have seen some very beautiful ones that have great conformation and that are Champions, but that is not enough to make me change my mind regarding all the risks involved in breeding them.  I think in the show ring who ever has the best conformation should win.  I am not going to explain all the reasons why I do not breed them, but I will say that I am not going to hold it against anyone that does, as long as they do it responsibly and follow the CCA Guidelines.  The CCA has just recently voted on banning the Merle and it did not pass, but they have posted guidelines that should be followed in regards to the breeding of Merles.  Yes, I do co-own two Champion males with a very dear friend that does breed Merles, but it has been agreed upon that they will not be bred to our co-owned Champions.  If you chose to not like me or judge me because of my friendship with a Merle breeder then that is your loss.  I hope that you do not judge me as I try not to judge others.
